Heat & Glo Fireplace Repair & Service
American maker of gas, wood, and electric fireplaces, inserts, and log sets, best known for direct-vent gas units.
About Heat & Glo
Heat & Glo builds factory-made fireplaces for homes: direct-vent gas fireplaces in traditional and linear styles, gas inserts for existing masonry openings, wood-burning fireplaces, electric units, gas log sets, and outdoor fireplaces. It is one of the main brands of Hearth & Home Technologies, the hearth division of HNI Corporation.
You find Heat & Glo in a lot of new construction and remodels because builders and hearth dealers carry it widely. The range runs from basic SlimLine builder models to large linear and see-through units like the Primo II and Mezzo, so it covers the mid to premium part of the market. Most current gas models use the IntelliFire ignition system, and many can be controlled by remote or by the IntelliFire app.
History
Brothers Ron and Dan Shimek started Heat-N-Glo in a Minnesota garage in 1975, beginning with glass-front fireplaces. In 1987 the company developed direct-vent technology, which vented combustion through the wall and became an industry standard. HON Industries (now HNI Corporation) bought the company and in 1996 merged it with its Heatilator division, forming what is now Hearth & Home Technologies. Later milestones include a ceramic firebox design in 1995, the furnace-rated Energy Pro in 2012, and the IntelliFire app in 2020. The brand marked 50 years in 2025.

Why won't my Heat & Glo fireplace light?
The most common causes are a dirty or failing pilot assembly, weak batteries in the remote or backup pack, or a bad igniter or flame sensor. A tech can test the IntelliFire system and replace the faulty part.
