Kalamazoo Grill Repair & Service
Michigan-built luxury outdoor kitchens known for hybrid grills that burn gas, charcoal and wood.
About Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet builds high-end outdoor kitchen equipment in Michigan: grills, pizza ovens, smokers, cooktops, cabinetry and outdoor refrigeration. Its best-known product is the Hybrid Fire Grill, which lets you cook over gas, charcoal or wood in the same firebox. Units are built to order and usually sold through a design consultation rather than off a shelf.
This is the luxury end of the outdoor kitchen market. A single grill often costs more than an entire mid-range island, so buyers tend to be homeowners doing a full custom backyard with a designer, architect or high-end dealer. Owners usually care about cooking with real fire and about heavy stainless construction more than price.
History
Kalamazoo traces its roots to 1906, when Lewis H. Bullard started a sheet metal business in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In the 1990s his great-grandson Geoffrey Bullard launched a grill company, and in 1998 it released the first dual-fuel grills that could run on gas or charcoal and wood. The cast stainless Dragon Burner arrived in 2005, the same year the business became Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet and widened into full outdoor kitchens. Later generations of the Hybrid Fire Grill followed in 2007 and 2011. In 2022 Kalamazoo and Urban Bonfire combined under a holding company called Pleina Group, with Kalamazoo staying an independent brand.
