Monessen Fireplace Repair & Service

Vent-free gas fireplace, firebox, and gas log set brand, now part of Hearth & Home Technologies.

About Monessen

Monessen is known mainly for vent-free gas products: vent-free fireplaces, fireboxes, burners, and gas log sets that install without a chimney or flue. It also sells log sets for vented fireplaces and a vent-free cast iron gas stove. The brand is part of Hearth & Home Technologies, the hearth division of HNI Corporation.

Monessen sits in the entry to mid range. A vent-free firebox and log set is one of the cheapest ways to add a gas fire to a room, and the Artisan linear vent-free fireplaces give a more modern look at a higher price. Its products are common in the Southeast and in homes where running a vent is hard. Because vent-free units burn indoors, local codes and room size limits apply, and regular cleaning matters.

Questions about Monessen

Who services Monessen fireplaces and gas logs near me?

The Find a Pro directory lists Pro Grill Verified companies that work on Monessen fireplaces and gas logs. Search by your ZIP code to find one near you.

Why does my Monessen vent-free fireplace keep shutting off?

Vent-free units have an oxygen depletion sensor pilot that shuts off the gas if it senses a problem. Dust on the pilot, a weak thermocouple, or low gas pressure often trigger it, and a tech can clean or replace the parts.

Who owns Monessen?

Monessen is part of Hearth & Home Technologies, a division of HNI Corporation, which acquired Monessen's parent company, Vermont Castings Group, in 2014.

Why is my Monessen gas log set making soot?

Soot usually comes from logs placed out of position, a dirty burner, or incorrect gas pressure. Following the log placement diagram and having the burner cleaned typically fixes it.
