Montigo Fireplace Repair & Service
Canadian maker of modern linear, multi-sided and custom gas fireplaces for homes and commercial projects.
About Montigo
Montigo builds gas fireplaces with a strong lean toward modern linear designs, see-through units and custom commercial work. Residential lines include DelRay, Distinction, Phenom, Divine multi-sided models, the power-vented Exemplar series and Illume inserts, while the Prodigy line covers large commercial and multi-unit projects such as hotels and condo towers.
The brand sits in the premium tier. It is popular with architects, builders and designers who want long linear fires, indoor-outdoor see-through units or a fireplace engineered for an unusual space. Montigo sells through authorized dealers and distributors, plus a small number of authorized online retailers in the US. Because many models are power-vented or use electronic ignition, owners should plan on professional installation and a yearly service visit from a qualified tech.
History
Dan Binzer began installing zero-clearance wood fireplaces for Vancouver-area builders in 1976 and started manufacturing gas fireplaces under the Montigo name in 1985 through his company Canadian Heating Products. The company is credited with early work on direct venting for residential gas fireplaces and an early sand-pan gas log set. It later added custom-engineered and commercial fireplaces and a louvered termination system for multi-unit buildings. In 2023 private equity owner CAI Capital Partners sold Montigo's operating assets to Empire Comfort Systems of Illinois.
