Traeger Grill Repair & Service
The company that created the wood pellet grill, now making Wi-Fi pellet grills, flat tops and pellets.
About Traeger
Traeger makes wood pellet grills, which burn compressed hardwood pellets fed by an auger into a fire pot, with a controller holding a set temperature. It is the biggest name in pellet grills and also sells the Flatrock flat top, MEATER wireless thermometers, and its own pellets, rubs and sauces.
Traeger sits in the mid tier. Woodridge is the entry line, Ironwood is the mid step, and Timberline is the top model, which can be built into an outdoor kitchen with a trim kit. Buyers are usually homeowners who want easy low-and-slow smoking without tending a fire. Because pellet grills rely on electronics and moving parts, igniters, augers, fans and controllers are the usual service items. Owners also need to keep pellets dry and clean out ash regularly.
History
Joe Traeger, who ran a family heating business in Oregon, developed a pellet-fired barbecue in the mid-1980s, and the company says it invented the original wood pellet grill in 1987. The patent expired in 2007, opening the field to competitors. The Traeger family sold the business, and in 2014 it was bought by private equity firm Trilantic Capital Partners. The company moved its headquarters to Salt Lake City and listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker COOK in 2021.
