Washington-based maker of Lopi stoves, Fireplace Xtrordinair, DaVinci fireplaces and Fire Garden outdoor fire.
About Travis Industries
Travis Industries is a large US hearth manufacturer that builds wood, pellet and gas products in an 11-acre factory in Mukilteo, Washington. It sells under several brands: Lopi for wood, pellet and gas stoves and inserts; Fireplace Xtrordinair (FireplaceX) for traditional and modern gas and wood fireplaces and inserts; DaVinci for custom linear gas fireplaces; and Fire Garden for outdoor fire pits and fire features. The older Avalon brand has been retired, but many Avalon stoves and inserts are still in use.
Travis products sit in the mid to premium range, with DaVinci at the luxury end. Lopi and FireplaceX are mainstream choices at hearth dealers across the US and Canada, especially in colder regions where homeowners heat with wood or want a high-output gas insert.
History
Kurt Rumens launched Lopi in 1979 with about $600 after established stove makers passed on his wood stove design. In 1988 Spokane foundry owner Travis Garske bought Lopi and the Avalon stove company and combined them as Travis Industries, with Rumens staying on as president. The company added Fireplace Xtrordinair and later DaVinci Custom Fireplaces, bought two former Boeing buildings in Mukilteo in 2011, and launched the Fire Garden outdoor line in 2023. Avalon was folded into the other brands in the late 2010s.
